This jig is designed for assembling and semi-automatically welding the exterior seams of a covered wagon roof. It provides precise positioning and secure clamping of framing straps, arches, transoms, and sheet panels ahead of welding — ensuring consistent roof geometry and a shorter assembly cycle time.
Operating sequence
- Load and position the roof framing straps lengthwise against the stop.
- Engage the pneumatic clamps to secure the straps in the transverse direction.
- Install and clamp the transoms.
- Load the sheet panels, edge trims, and arches onto the centering guides and stops.
- Run the traveling beam in to clamp and tack-weld the sheets to the transoms, arches, and framing straps.
- Return the beam to its home position and complete the final roof welding.
- Transfer the finished roof to storage.
