The Techvagonmash chain beam rotator is purpose-built for positioning I-beams and H-beams during welding, assembly, and surface treatment. An endless chain drive rotates structural profiles clockwise and counter-clockwise to any required angle — without using the overhead crane. Three standard models cover the most common section sizes; custom configurations are available to order against a technical specification.
Key advantages for your operation
Integrated earth contact. The chain loop maintains a continuous ground connection throughout rotation — particularly important for automated welding cells.
Crane-free rotation. The crane is used only for initial loading and final unloading — all rotation is handled by the machine, freeing crane capacity for other tasks throughout the shift.
Faster cycle times. Positioning the beam for the next weld pass takes seconds. On production batches, the productivity gain typically reaches 25–40 % compared with manual crane-assisted turning.
Consistent weld quality. Welding in the flat (1F/2F) position on all four faces delivers uniform penetration and eliminates the defect risk associated with overhead and vertical welding.
Bidirectional rotation. Clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation with stepless speed adjustment allows precise positioning to any angle defined by the welding procedure specification (WPS).
Variable gauge. The distance between the two drive units is freely selectable for beam lengths from 1,500 mm to 12,000 mm.

Applications & compatible profiles
The rotator accommodates the following workpiece types:
- Welded I-beams and H-beams — symmetric and asymmetric sections
- Box beams and built-up girders
- Channel sections, rectangular hollow sections
- Long structural assemblies for railcar bodies, crane bridges, and industrial frames
Typical industries: railway rolling stock manufacturing, crane and lifting equipment production, bridge steel fabrication, heavy machinery assembly, metallurgy.
Custom configurations
Standard models KC-600, KC-1000, and KC-1500 cover the widest range of common structural sections. For non-standard profiles, extended lengths, or integration into automated welding lines, Techvagonmash designs purpose-built rotator configurations.
