Line for applying operational coatings to railway axles for Interpipe company

Equipment name: Line for applying operational coatings to railway axles.
Customer: PJSC “Interpipe NTZ”
Year of implementation: 2017

In 2016, Interpipe company, the only manufacturer of railway wheels in Ukraine, mastered the production of finished mechanically processed railway axles. The investment in the new section, which allows the annual production of 10 thousand axles for freight transport, amounted to two million dollars. It should be noted that Interpipe is constantly improving its technologies, which allows it to serve major business giants such as Siemens, Bombardier, Hyundai, Alstom, Deutsche Bahn, SBB, ÖBB, DSB, and RENFE. The only issue that remained to be solved was: “How to paint the finished product?” Doing it manually is almost impossible, and there was simply no suitable painting line in Ukraine. The Scientific and Production Company “TECHVAGONMASH” from Kremenchuk took on solving the problem.

Scope of Work

As part of the project, Techvagonmash performed a full range of works:

  • development of the technological solution and line parameters;
  • design and manufacture of specialized equipment;
  • formation of the production site layout;
  • supply of equipment and integration into the existing production;
  • commissioning works and putting the line into operation.

Technical Features

The developed line provides a mechanized and controlled process of surface preparation and application of operational coating, which allows:

  • to ensure uniformity and repeatability of coating parameters;
  • to minimize the influence of the human factor;
  • to maintain stable productivity and product quality.

Project Results

The implementation of the line allowed the customer to:

  • increase the service life of railway axles;
  • improve product quality and its compliance with industry requirements;
  • optimize production processes.

The implementation of this project confirms the experience and competence of Techvagonmash in the development and implementation of technological lines for railway engineering enterprises.
